How to Manage iOS Files on Windows

There are numerous PC iPhone manager claiming that they can deal with files as iTunes does, but most of them are limited to the management of popular media contents (photos, video and music).

To export your iDevice files to your Windows PC:

In DearMob,
iWork files that most iPhone managers cannot reach can be exported and viewed on a Windows PC.

1. Connect your iDevice to the computer with a cable before launching DearMob iPhone Manager.
2. Enter File and double-click one of the apps. Then click Export on the top and then you can find the files on your computer local drive.

Tips:

  • Make sure your iDevice is iOS 11 or later.
  • Click the box next to the Name button to select all the apps/files.
  • It is suggested to change a new location for your exported items, otherwise, all files will be stored in driver C by default.
  • As iWork files are iOS- orientated, you need to convert to Windows-compatible before viewing.

To add local files to your iDevice from your Windows PC:

In DearMob,
You are allowed to create a new folder by clicking New Folder for a better organization in the app (enter File and double-click one of the apps), which is impossible in iTunes.

1. Connect your iDevice to the computer with a cable before launching DearMob iPhone Manager.
2. Enter File and double-click one of the apps., and you can add any local files to that app.

Tips:

  • Click Add File to import the file(s) to the app. Or you can click Add Folder to import a folder of files to the app. Beside, you are allowed to drag and drop the file/folder to the empty place for adding directly.
  • All added files can be found in the Files App on iDevice.

To modify and delete file(s) from your iDevice:

In DearMob,
Follow the instruction for modifying and deleting files:

1. Connect your iDevice to the computer with a cable before launching DearMob iPhone Manager.
2. Enter File and double-click one of the apps. Then select a file and click Modify, then type the file name in the box. At last, choose OK to confirm renaming.
3. Enter File and double-click one of the apps. Select one file or some files, and click the Trash icon to remove the file(s) from you iDevice. At last, choose OK to confirm deleting.

Tips:

  • You can only manage your local files on the device but are not able to access files on the cloud.
  • Click Name on the top-left to view files in ascending or descending order.

How difficult to manage files in iTunes on Windows PC

Before you begin using iTunes to transfer/backup photos on your iOS/iPadOS device, you have to do the following things:

  • Update your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to the latest version of iOS.
  • Update your Windows PC to the latest version of Windows 10.
  • Ensure that your entire iOS/iPadOS device are using the same Apple ID.
  • Download/Update iTunes software on your Windows PC.
  • If you have photos on your iPhone that are not on your computer, you can follow these steps to import them:

Add files from your computer

1. Connect your iDevice to your PC with a cable and launch iTunes if it doesn’t open automatically. After a moment, the Device button will show up in iTunes (near the top-left corner of the window).
2. Click the Device button, then click File Sharing in the sidebar.
3. In the list on the left, select one of the apps you want to add files.
4. Move to the end and click Add File. Select the file(s) you want to import to the app.
5. If you want to rename the file(s), highlight and double-click.
6. Tap Files App on your iDevice to access new added files.

Export files to your computer

1. Connect your iDevice to your computer with cable or Wi-Fi, then launch iTunes on your PC. After a moment, the Device button will show up in iTunes (near the top-left corner of the window).
2. Click the Device button, then click File Sharing in the sidebar.
3. In the list on the left, select one of the apps, then select the file(s) you want to transfer.
4. Move to the end and click Save. Then select a location to store file(s).
